Thought Leader Select is pleased to announce that Allison Murphy, an executive with nearly two decades of experience working in healthcare and biopharmaceuticals, has joined the company’s team of consultants dedicated to optimizing industry collaborations with medical experts.
Murphy comes to Thought Leader Select with a track record of success in clinical work at leading medical centers of excellence, as well as sales and medical science liaison roles at Eli Lilly and Company. A 1993 graduate of Villanova University with a degree in nursing, Murphy entered clinical practice in a role leading pediatric oncology nurse teams at New York University Lagone Medical Center, followed by a stint working as a nurse coordinator in pediatric endocrinology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, also in New York.
During her time at Columbia Presbyterian, Ms. Murphy managed a practice that grew from 300 to over 2000 weekly patient visits and served as study coordinator for multiple National Institutes of Health-sponsored protocols and several phase IV clinical trial collaborations with the pharmaceutical industry.
In 2001, Murphy began an 11-year run at Eli Lilly, first working as a sales specialist on behalf of the company’s portfolio of products aimed at growth disorders to help both pediatric and adult endocrinologists. Murphy later joined the medical science consulting team at Lilly, collaborating with thought leaders in medicine to support Lilly’s emerging portfolio of treatments for diabetes. In her medical liaison role, Ms. Murphy gleaned insights from key opinion leaders to assist Lilly in the development of its products to reach goals for better patient and public health in the area of diabetes. In addition, she worked on cross-functional teams at Lilly to ensure thought leader insights were properly integrated into the company’s long-term strategic planning for new products.
From her base of operations near Boston, Allison Murphy now joins Thought Leader Select’s team of consultants, including Neil Mellor, Kristen Smithwick, Paul Meade and Lisa Smith, with a focus on helping companies in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, devices, and diagnostics to leverage Thought Leader Select’s industry-leading in-house research, analysis, and insights from key opinion leaders across multiple therapeutic areas and dozens of diseases and conditions. In tandem with the company’s research team, Murphy is pioneering new applications of thought leader research, utilizing key opinion leader profiling and engagement planning to spur early-stage industry collaboration with leading centers of excellence around the world.
“We are honored to have someone of Allison Murphy’s caliber, with her vast experience working alongside key opinion leaders in clinical work and research, as well as her key work in driving new products to market at Lilly, join our team at Thought Leader Select,” stated Kristen Smithwick, Vice President of Business Development, Marketing, and Strategic Planning. “Allison is a real problem-solver and force-multiplier for us, since she knows both sides of the medical/industry collaborations that are necessary to keep improving the lives of patients.”
